The Comp Plan: VIDEO to Prepare, & Study Circles to Attend

Check out the links below on the dilemma residents face with D.C.'s new Comprehensive Plan being put forth by developers. The Comprehensive Plan will be the comprehensive guide - with weight of law, that governs development in the District.        The Plan is being rushed through. as often happens to help the lobbyists enact laws they favor. Spelled out, in brief, it is the mayor's plan to give away the city without regard to displacement, gentrification and affordable housing and is fraught with false promises, assumptions and claims, like building more and more high density housing will lead to lower rent or home prices and affordable housing. Experience alone tells us this is false: they've been building like mad for 20 years, when have prices come down? Promises, Promises. Check out this brief, under-2 minute video that tells it all: http://www.dcgrassrootsplanning.org/compplan/ Many see this rush to pass a new Plan is so the public has little time to study or comment on it, and thus little chance to offer the input needed to preserve our neighborhoods, homes, communities and interests, which are not represented by the new plan, said to be almost wholly developer-written.      For all these reasons, we urge you to attend meetings of The Grass Roots Planning Coalition.  See the video below that shows the challenges and problems of residents in the face of such an onslaught:   ON YOUTUBE, Must-see Video:  Comprehensive Plan Citywide study groups with corrections and history
