Worst Eviction Crisis in History Looming, Tenants Need and Want Action
TENAC held the first in a series of five forums this past Monday, our Tenants' At-Large Candidates Forum (Part 1) for the 2020 General Election. (With a field of 24 At-large candidates, we divided the At-Large Forum into 2 segments, to allow adequate time for discussion.) Candidates were asked about their positions on issues important to tenants. Special emphasis was put on the potential mass evictions crisis looming, an issue more vital to tenants than any in decades, perhaps ever.
Video of the forum is below for all to view. We ask you to kindly share the forum video with fellow tenants and other concerned parties. We hope it will help voters make a well-informed decision on who to vote for in November. A copy of all forum videos will be available on our website, www.tenacdc.org, and on our Facebook page (link below).
We know of no organization that has ever held a forum for all DC-wide races: for all Council races, Congressional Delegate, Shadow seats and Board of Education elections - - five forums over five nights. All candidates will be asked about solutions to the affordable housing crisis and the problems tenants face that began long before the pandemic, now only to increase many fold because of it. Board of Education candidates will be asked their positions on charter schools, school funding, testing standards, and how to improve public schools. With your participation, we can all keep as well informed as possible on all aspects of the issues important to tenants and the future of education in the District.
