Worst Eviction Crisis in History Looming, Tenants Need and Demand Action
TENAC, as other advocacy organizations, will hold our 2020 General Election Candidates Forum online, due to the worldwide pandemic. Candidates will be asked their positions on issues critical to affordable housing, tenants' and rent control and the urgent need to prevent the mass eviction crisis fast approaching. Board of Education candidates will be asked their positions on charter schools, school funding, testing standards, and how to improve public schools.
We know of no organization that has ever held a forum for all DC-wide races: for the Council, Congressional Delegate, Shadow seats and Board of Education elections - - five forums over five nights. With your participation, we can all keep as well informed as possible on all aspects of the issues important to tenants and the future of education in the District.
We urge you to listen closely to candidate positions on what they will do, if elected, to help residents transition through the approaching difficult time ahead. We will ask about the plans for student classrooms in the event of a surge in the pandemic and other related issues.

How to View the Forum. Simply go to the TENAC DC Facebook page, at https://www.facebook.com/TENACDC/live
Hear the candidates on rent cancellation and how to transition from the freezes on rents, late fees and evictions to preventing a tsunami of evictions once these freezes are lifted. We will ask them about solutions to the affordable housing crisis and the problems tenants face that began long before the pandemic, now only to increase many fold because of it. If there were ever a time to listen closely to candidates, now is that time.
